It’s fair to say that setting up any new business is hard, but that’s exactly what PS Jamaica did in late 2014. Since then PS Jamaica has hit the ground running, as right off the bat in a hat trick the first 3 piloting residential projects were confirmed, scheduled and installed.

Work at 7 Waterworks and Avalon Technologies began on February 23rd and work on The Upstone Residence began on March 2nd……By March 6 all systems were a go !! All systems were performing remarkably well and the customers were so pleased with both the quality of service and the quality of the system.

The Jamaica Public Service Company and the Office of Utilities Regulation were an integral part of the equation. They worked with us to ensure all licences and approvals were granted before the projects even started. This allowed us to deliver each system on time and on target.

There really isn’t anymore we could ask for!! What a way to start the year!!

British based renewable energy experts Padero Solar are pleased to have completed a deal that will see one-megawatt of solar energy generated on the island of Jamaica.

The deal, which has been backed by British High Commissioner to Jamaica David Fitton as a vote of confidence for the local economy, is the first of its kind on the island for the group’s subsidiary company Padero Solar Jamaica.

Approximately 250 kilowatts of the energy will be generated by way of solar panels on the warehouse roof of the WISYNCO Group at its industrial complex in Lake’s Pen, St Catherine, with another 750 kilowatts via panels on the ground.

The output from the panels will meet one third of the plant’s three-megawatt peak demand and is anticipated to reduce energy costs by up to 40% over the first five years.

Padero Solar Jamaica bring with them a rich understanding and knowledge of the solar industry, as part of the Padero Group responsible for developing more than 160MW of projects in the UK and across the world.

Benjamin Daley, managing director of Padero Solar Jamaica, said the project was timely and the partnership right for both parties and the country.

“I think renewable energy in the Caribbean is going to take off. Certainly, the price points would indicate that. The potential is here, but you need the expertise, you need the buying power to come here, and that’s where we are. I think this is a perfect time for us.”
